Books & Websites

Since running the Christianity Explored course in the congregation, people have been asking about different books to help them articulate their Christian faith. Also included in this list are some books and devotional resources for those who have recently come to faith.

So the three general areas covered by this resouces page will look at apologetics, devotional and theological materials. They are by no means exhaustive but should give people an easy place to start looking.

Apologetics: This is about defending the Christian Faith. Many of these resources will give you some tools to help answer people's questions about what we believe and why we believe it.

Three books by Lee Stobel are a good place to start: http://www.leestrobel.com/

Also see anything by C S Lewis, for example, Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Problem of Pain

Rev David Robertson's articles on Richard Dawkins: http://www.freechurch.org/issues/2006/issues06.htm

Why I am not an Atheist, by Rev Alex MacDonald:

The ministry of Ravi Zacharias: http://www.rzim.org/index.php

Tim Keller has an intersting article on the major objections people have to Christianity:

Devotional:

Bible in Year: http://hippocampusextensions.com/mcheyneplan.html

For those with doubts about their salvation see C H Spurgeon, Around the Wicket Gate. You can read it here:

Richard Bewes: has two books that are excellent for those starting out on the Christian life.
Talking about Prayer

Theology Course

http://www.covenantseminary.edu/

This is almost the entire contents of a theology degree course from an excellent Seminary in the United States. It's from a Reformed perspective and best of all it's free! So if you fancy getting a theology degree minus the certificate have a look at this site. You can listen to the lectures and use Adobe reader to read the class handouts.
